Members of the Ghillies Committee

The Ghillies are a fundamental and essential part of the River Spey. Although not employees of the Spey Fishery Board, the Board recognises the wealth of experience the ghillies bring and, as such, has a ghillies committee which reports back to the main Board of Directors on an occasional basis, and as time allows, especially during the fishing season.

Since the recent February 2025 Spey Fishery Board elections, David Greer, one of our Board Members now chairs the ghillies committee, working closely with his colleague, Simon Crozier, Senior Ghillie, Castle Grant. The Board seeks to build on the good relationship it has through its new leadership.

The current members of the Ghillies Committee are as follows:

  • Simon Crozier, Senior Ghillie, Castle Grant
  • Roddy Stronach, Head Ghillie, Tulchan
  • Andrew Hall, Head Ghillie, Knockando, Lower Pitchroy
  • Euan Reid, Head Ghillie, Arndilly
  • David Buley, Castle Water, Gordon Castle
  • David Greer, Board Member, Spey Fishery Board and Chairman of the Ghillies Committee
  • Dr. Phil Williams
  • Duncan Ferguson, Operations Manager, Spey Fishery Board
  • Atticus Albright, Head Biologist, Spey Fishery Board
