Afternoon folks
Another week into the season and we start March today, how time flies.
Its been a cooler day here, more like the norm, its great when we have a bit of warmth outside and in the sun too. It is also very pleasing to have the brighter morning and evenings which makes such a difference to the mood.
The garden is springing onto life with growth and things are going green as things warm up. It is always great to see fresh growth as spring arrives.
This weeks update from Duncan is a couple of pictures of the eggs harvested in the back end of last year. They are making goood progress and developing well in the first stage of life as Alevins.

On the fishing from a lot of fishing effort is going on up and down the river with predominantly kelts being caught and in some beats in good numbers, which is always a good thing to keep rods interested at this early juncture of the season.
Heading up the river Lewis Webb reports that at Gordon Castle/Brae Water of a quiet week this week no real angling effort gone in so Iโm not sure itโs worth a reportโฆ. Although we do have a 20% off deal on spring rods over the next few weeks, the code is on our social media channels.
Up at Orton, Andy Gunn is delighted to report that they are off the mark with a nice fish caught by Gary Mackenzie in the House Pool on Friday morning

Robbie Stronach at Rothes and Aikenway advises that they added to their tally during the week with Jake Young landing a fine 8lb fish in Burnmouth.

Up at Arndilly, Euan Reid advises that this week we had the Welsh contingent (amongst others) and we almost got off to a flying start with Kev Williams losing a fish on Monday afternoon. Kev hooked a fish in the bulwark at 2ft 6 and on its 2nd jump got tangled in the line and eventually came off at the last moment.
The rest of the week the team worked hard and caught the best part of 20 Kelts but to my surprise we finished blank. Big water suits us well but it just wasn’t our week.
At Easter Elchies Orn Sigurhansson reports a week of good water, plenty of kelts and our first fresh fish. Water height ran consistent 22-26 inches on the gauge all week, falling to 16 inches on Saturday after a frosty Friday night. We were very pleased to land our first fresh this week, Les Tyson landing a cracking Spey springer from Fiddich mouth. Looking good for next week.

Heading up to Lower Wester Elchies to see John Lunardi who also got off the mark this week. A crocking 12lb fish was landed by Miss Holond on a Rotenon. I am delighted as I supplied John with a few of these at the start of the year. Due to a phone malfunction there is no picture of the fish which is a shame.
Next beat up on the same bank is Wester Elchies where Malcolm Newbould also reports another fish for their early season tally with Jim Bolton landing a nice fish of 10lbs in the Brock.
Once again due to the generosity of Loop Tackle and CEO JIm Coates we have another prize to giveaway this week. This weeks prize is again the cosy Onka jacket in a range of 4 colours. Current colours are Dark Grey, Olive, Raven Black or Water Blue.

This weeks prize winner is Miss Holond for the largest fish reported to me and I will be in touch for contact details- many congratulations.
Looking to the week ahead, it looks like temperatures will stay reasonable good being close to double figures for the majority of the time.
Tight lines if you are out and about
Sandy
